CleanTech Region in Almedalen: Where Democracy Meets Dialogue since 1968.

Welcome to Almedalen — a place unlike any other. Every summer, the historic park in Visby on the island of Gotland transforms into the world’s largest open democratic meeting place — a vibrant forum where politics, ideas, and people come together in true democratic spirit. almedalsveckan.info+1

What began in 1968 with a spontaneous speech by a young politician has grown into Almedalsveckan — a week of free, open-to-all dialogue, debate, and exchange on the pressing issues of our time. Here, politicians, thought leaders, innovators, NGOs, business voices, and everyday citizens mingle, listen, and learn from one another in an atmosphere of mutual respect and shared purpose. almedalsveckan.info

In Visby’s cobbled streets and leafy park paths, chance encounters spark new ideas, collaborations take flight, and democracy isn’t just discussed — it’s lived. Thousands gather not behind closed doors, but in open circles, cafés, stages, and squares — making Almedalen not just an event, but a living, breathing celebration of democratic engagement.
