Amsterdam, March 2024 — At the Future of Utilities: Energy Transition Summit 2024, Lars Ling, CEO & Founder of CleanTech Region Group, delivered a keynote address positioning solar thermal heat as one of the fastest and most scalable pathways to decarbonizing global industries.
Ling highlighted that almost 50% of industrial energy demand is for heat below 400°C, a segment ideally suited to Absolicon’s advanced solar thermal systems. With proven performance, thermal storage, and hybrid integration, solar heat is rapidly becoming one of the most cost-effective replacements for natural gas and other fossil fuels.
Across sectors such as food & beverage, chemicals, pulp & paper, textiles, mining, and district heating, solar heat can dramatically reduce emissions while stabilizing energy costs and strengthening energy security.
He emphasized that Nordic companies and innovation ecosystems are uniquely positioned to lead this transition, with strong momentum emerging in Europe, Africa, and Silicon Valley.

“The future of industrial heat is solar,” said Ling. “We now have the technology, the economics, and the urgency — what we need is rapid deployment.”
CleanTech Region Group continues to expand international partnerships that link Nordic cleantech leadership with global industrial needs, accelerating large-scale, climate-neutral production.
